PROMOTED BY PEDRO OYARBIDE
Like any citizen of Valencia, I am absolutely devastated by the destruction that the DANA has caused in our land. Over the last few days, like so many others, I have visited the disaster and helped with the clean-up of the affected towns. During all this time, I have not been able to stop connecting what happened with the first cover of the BLACKWATER saga, whose story begins just after a flood devastates the town of Perdido.
Now that I have to go back to the studio and work, I felt it necessary to reimagine that cover to pay tribute to the many people who have lost everything, and to the thousands of Valencians who have united and organized quickly in the face of the ineptitude, delay, and poor management of public administrations.
In this updated version of LA FLOOD, I wanted to reflect the spirit of unity of the Valencian people, the magnitude of which I have been able to experience first-hand in the worst climate catastrophe of this century. Although I am from Madrid, I also feel that I am from here; these days, more than ever.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
I would like to thank the publishers who have published the BLACKWATER saga —Monsieur Toussaint Louverture, Neri Pozza and Blackie Books— and who have hooked so many readers, not only in Spain but also in France, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Readers whom I now ask to help Valencia by buying this print. The entire amount raised will be donated to associations working in the field.
If Elinor has decided to take up the shovel, I wouldn't contradict her.
Special mention to Blackie Books for their generosity in taking care of the logistics, production, shipping and dissemination of this initiative. Thanks to Estudio xxx for collaborating with the printing. Thanks to Ritagraff for the inks and material.
